Email from Rodney's Mom 2-13-2010

Hi La Trenda,
Sorry, cable modem went out and just got line repaired! Thank you, we are so excited and Rodney is so precious. Have some pictures to send to you. He went on a long ramble in the woods yesterday with Uncle [family dog] (and us of course!) and has been playing with me constantly. Baby offered him one of his toys the other day too, which was hilarious! I've been working with Rodney on obedience and you made a fantastic start, thank you! He is so quick to learn and has just adapted so well to his new life.

I will spread the word about Murphy. Just like Rodney, Murphy won the lottery when he found you!! So cute!!

I will get the pictures from my mom's camera and send. Have a great weekend and thanks a million for all you did for Rodney--your love and care made his transition from homeless to a home life so much easier for him.

Thanks La Trenda! Hope you, Lupe and Matt-Matt are doing great!

We're having fun over here! Thanks for the new information-that will be very useful. He's so clever! I'm teaching him "foot" so he'll lift up a paw at a time to be wiped off! He seems very settled, enough to complain when he doesn't think he's getting my 100% attention. Quite a chorus with Baby and Rodney! Rodney has a new sweater and a new warm jacket (which he sleeps in as he gets so cold despite his bed and two blankets!).

He's just precious and we love him!
Take care,
Rodney's Mom

Hi La Trenda,
Rodney sends his love! He has had a fun day even with the rain. In fact, I actually had to go outside and get him when it started raining-he was so busy playing that he either didn't notice or care. That's a first since any other dog I know is howling to get in! We've chewed our toys next to [Baby's] play pen and they talked to each other most of the morning. Then Rodney, [Husband] and I sat on the floor in the den playing together this evening. He just cracks us up-he is such a funny dog! Of course, both [Baby] and Rodney abandon me the second Daddy gets home! Rodney had some diarrhea a couple of times (once last night and once today) but I think the storm made him nervous. We talked to the vet and he seems much better now. It's a lot of change for him. He hasn't seen many TVs in his life...he really seemed to wonder for a minute if Serena Williams really was in the living room. I'm not kidding, he watched tennis for about 10 minutes, moving his head with the ball as if he was in the stands.
Hope you are doing great! He's amazing!

Hi La Trenda,
I know you want to call and see how he's doing ( I know I would if were you!), so I thought I'd email and give you his evening activities. He's been busy cooking and playing!

He was very sad when you left and squeaked and stood right by the front door (and kept returning to it). I put [Rodney's Mom's Dog] sof-crate in the kitchen with me, and Rodney helped me make meatballs and also had some time to get used to me and my voice. Then we went and played outside where he went on a big sprint round the garden (so cute!). We've been outside to play about 4 more times and enjoyed looking at the moon. He just loved [husband] and raced around with his toy while [husband] chased him. Also tracked a possum trail around the trees in the back.

[baby] watched Rodney during his dinner in fascination and kept loudly yelling "Ba" and smiling at Rodney. Any time Rodney moved out of sight, [baby] leaned over in the highchair to see him. I think they're a perfect match!

And then once [baby] went to bed, [husband] and I sat on the floor with him and played with the Nylabone, the treat toy, and a tug toy. He was so well-behaved and he lay next to us and chewed his toy while we petted him.

He's squeaking off and on now that it's bedtime but he's settling in and seems very comfy with his wonderful quilt you had for him. He'll be dreaming of La Trenda and all the hard work and love she put in to finding him a safe, happy home!!

Tell Lupe and Matt-Matt woof from Rodney!

About Rodney's Rescue Connections

We are a very small rescue group. We do not have a physical shelter. Our animals stay in boarding facilities. Due to very limited funds, we can only afford to house one dog at a time. We are working with Pause for Paws (a wonderful 501 C 3 rescue group) to get an adorable little Ibizan Hound/ Whippet Mix named Rodney adopted.
His medical bills are almost $6,000.00 dollars so donations are always appreciated. (We are not a 501 C 3 at the moment) If you can help sponsor Rodney's medical bills, please click the "donate" button below.
Or you can send donations directly to Rodney's vet/boarding facility at VCA Health Associates 11214 Iota Dr San Antonio TX, 78217C/O "Rodney"
